Ange Postecoglou reveals Tottenham’s plans to sign new striker
To this point in the summer, Tottenham has only made one acquisition.
Ange Postecoglou has stated unequivocally that he is interested in acquiring a new striker. Spurs have been connected with Dominic Solanke and Ivan Toney.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has stated that the club is working towards the goal of acquiring a new striker before the official end of the transfer window.
This summer, Spurs have made one acquisition, which was the talented midfielder Archie Grey, who was acquired from Leeds United for a fee of forty million pounds.
By the time the transfer market opened, it was anticipated that Tottenham would improve their offensive options and bring in a late replacement for Harry Kane. Recent rumours have suggested that they are interested in acquiring Dominic Solanke, a striker for Bournemouth, Ivan Toney, a talisman for Brentford, and Pedro Neto, a winger for Wolves.
During the preseason tour of South Korea that Spurs went on, Postecoglou discussed the qualities that he is looking for in a forward acquisition during this window.
“In Japan, I’ve always had a striker, and at Celtic, I had Kyogo, who was a sort of out and out number nine. Both of these players were my strikers. In the same way that we had to be a little imaginative the year before, it is fair to say that it all depends. You should know that if Harry had remained, I would have made use of him without a doubt! Football.london was informed by Postecoglou.
In light of this, I believe that the sort of striker that we acquire is of greater significance to us. You are aware that we play in a particular manner. We have specific requirements that must be met, both from a physical standpoint and from a technical standpoint, in order for it to be a striker that successfully fits that mould.
“It is still the part of the park where we are really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that are the areas that we are concentrating on,” she said.
I would like to believe that I have always been quite clear on what it is that I want, regardless of the approach that I use. Throughout the most of my career, I have been successful with transfers, and I must say that I thought the window that was available the previous year was outstanding.
“When I was a Celtic or at Yokohama, I mean, there are still guys that dominate the league that I brought to the league. I also brought them to the league.” I believe that the fact that I am quite clear about what I want is what hopefully reduces the likelihood of us doing it wrong. Now, it is kind of helpful that Johan [Lange, sporting director] and his team have some more knowledge around that, but it still comes down to, I believe that the most successful models are related to having a really clear notion about what it is that you are trying to do.
You should realise that if it’s simply a left-winger that you want, there are thousands of them, and each and every one of them is very, very skilled. Finding one that is going to be compatible with the way you wish to carry out things is the most important factor.
Postecoglou went on to say that it is highly improbable that Tottenham will be able to accomplish all of the business that they need to get done during this transfer window.
I don’t believe that everything will be completed within this time frame. He continued, “I have never been a believer in quick fixes, and I believe that I have stated that it would have been wonderful if we had already completed our business. However, I have always maintained a discipline to not go off and sort of get too emotional through these times.”
“Yes, this is a challenging moment. I have learnt to maintain discipline and to make sure that we accomplish what we have set out to do throughout this portion of the season, which is perhaps the part of the season in which I have the least control over decisions. We are stronger this year as a result of the addition of the two young people, but I also believe that there has been growth from other guys from the previous year, which naturally makes us stronger.
In spite of this, I believe that we will be able to move beyond this window. However, it is clear that we still have a hand in this window. When I came over, this wasn’t just a matter of making some minor adjustments here and there; rather, it required a significant change from where it was before. I was just thinking about the pre-season that took place the year before, and all I can say is that I believe fifty percent of the people who were on that tour are probably not here now.
Despite the fact that we have already accomplished a great deal and do not require as much more, I continue to believe that there is more to be done because it is not simply a matter of achieving achievement in a single year. What you are attempting to construct is another cycle of success, which I hope will be repeated, and I believe that this will take a little bit more time.
