Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, acknowledges that it is getting harder to resist the urge to include young sensation Ethan Nwaneri in the championship chase.
In the 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, the 17-year-old came off the bench to score the third goal, becoming him Arsenal’s second-youngest Premier League goal scorer.

The youngest, Cesc Fabregas, went on to achieve success, winning two Premier League championships with Chelsea, the FA Cup with the Gunners, and becoming a European and world champion with Spain.

When Nwaneri entered the game during Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Brentford in September 2022, at the age of just 15 years and 181 days, he became the youngest player in Premier League history.

However, after making his league debut more than two years ago, he has only made seven appearances, and he has yet to start a top-flight game.

Arteta maintains that he will continue to use caution while interacting with the lively kid, who won’t be 18 until March.

“I am constantly tempted,” Arteta declared. He is, in my opinion, the club’s second-youngest Premier League scorer.

“It gives us all the justifications, and this is just one more to place him there, but I play him and no one else at that point. I’d say it’s step-by-step.

“Managing expectations is something I can’t accomplish on my own. I’ll do my best to raise him, educate him, and provide him with the finest route we think is available.

His friends, family, and agency will all play a significant role. Focus on what he does, which is play football, and don’t pay too much attention to the noise. He enjoys every minute of it, therefore wonderful things will undoubtedly come to him.

Before Nwaneri opened his Premier League account with an assist from Raheem Sterling, a former young prodigy himself, Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal the lead and set up Thomas Partey for the second.

After four games without a victory, Arsenal’s title challenge could have been rekindled by the straightforward victory.

Forest, who started the day tied with the Gunners on points, lost for the second time in a row.

Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager, stated, “We must acknowledge that we have given up six goals in two games, so we should be concerned.”

“We need to return to being small, strong, and avoiding overcommitting to players of that caliber.”
