Arsenal players’ comments on Aaron Ramsdale’s mistake during half-time against Brentford.
William Saliba acknowledges that Arsenal were resolute in their pursuit of victory during the second half of their encounter against Brentford, despite a mistake made by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. Arsenal successfully clinched a last-minute triumph, courtesy of a goal scored by Kai Havertz in the closing five minutes.
This victory propelled them to the summit of the Premier League while they await the outcome of the Liverpool and Manchester City match. Ramsdale returned to the starting lineup in place of the regular number 1 goalkeeper, David Raya, who was unable to play against his loan team.
Nevertheless, he committed a notable error by delaying the clearance of the ball, so enabling Yoane Wissa the opportunity to swiftly slide in and score a goal that leveled the match for Brentford. Nevertheless, Saliba maintains that everyone is capable of making errors, even himself.
He wholeheartedly backs his team and has unwavering faith in their ability to rectify any mistakes. In an interview with beIN Sports [via The Mirror], he expressed the notion that it was imperative for them to emerge victorious in the second half.
“Every individual has committed errors, and in the past month, I personally made two mistakes. However, my team came to my rescue and rectified the situation. Conversely, in the latter half, the tables turned as my team faced three formidable opportunities from the opposition. Nevertheless, our goalkeeper successfully prevented these chances from materializing into goals. This exemplifies the commendable mindset exhibited by our team.”
Ramsdale’s lack of playing time this season was evident as he attempted to initiate play from the back, as is customary for Arsenal. However, he compensated for his earlier mistakes by making some exceptional saves later in the game.
