During the Netherlands’ UEFA Nations League encounter against Germany, Nathan Ake of Manchester City was observed being stretchered off the pitch, looking extremely distressed.

Just before halftime, Ake was replaced by Jurrien Timber because of what appeared to be a hamstring injury. When it became clear that Ake couldn’t continue, teammate Cody Gakpo was seen signalling for help.

The City star is the most recent member of the Premier League to suffer an injury during the international break in September. Two other players that Arsenal is worried about are Martin Odegaard of Norway and Riccardo Calafiori of Italy.

Now, Pep Guardiola and his group will be watching with bated breath for word on how serious Ake’s injury is. The next Premier League match for City comes on Saturday against Brentford. On September 22, the team will play Arsenal.

Tijani Reinders gave the Netherlands the lead in the match against Germany, but Deniz Undav pulled one back. In stoppage time of the first half, Joshua Kimmich then gave the Germans the lead, but Denzel Dumfries tied the score for Ronald Koeman’s team, according to the Mirror.

Another Premier League defender, Matthijs de Ligt, made a mistake that allowed a German onslaught and led to Undav’s goal. The centre defender for Manchester United was replaced at halftime by Jan Paul van Hecke of Brighton.

Even though De Ligt made a costly error for the second straight game, the Netherlands prevailed over Bosnia and Herzegovina. De Ligt was open about his error, saying, “I know that I should have performed better with their second goal.

“I don’t really know what happened,” he continued. I had misgivings throughout the play, even though I knew I should have cleared the ball. It’s simply f****d.”

The Champions are getting ready for an exciting fall filled with action. In between important league games is a mouthwatering Champions League matchup versus Inter Milan.

Pep’s team travels to Slovan Bratislava to play in the Champions League on October 1st, and then plays an EFL Cup match against Watford before leaving for Newcastle.
