Ben Doak completes £25m move, Celtic to earn seven figure windfall

Ben Doak, a Celtic Academy product, has signed with Bournemouth after leaving Liverpool. The Scottish international signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club worth £25 million.

According to Sun Sport, Celtic will get a large seven-figure sum due to a sell-on clause included in the £600,000 sale four years ago.

Doak was highly regarded by the Celtic administration, and he broke into the first team during Ange’s first season. However, this exposure, including a memorable victory over Rangers, was insufficient to keep the player at Celtic, and he eventually left for Liverpool.

The winger, who wants to be called as Gannon Doak in honor of both of his parents, completed the legalities today and will join former Celtic colleague Ryan Christie. Gannon Doak and Christie are regulars in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad, and it’s fantastic to see the wide man play on a regular basis, especially as we approach a World Cup qualifying campaign.

The additional incentive will boost Celtic’s finances, but the club hopes to put that money to use by bringing in a lot of new players. Celtic appear to be short in the front areas, but it appears that they have passed up the opportunity to recruit players ahead of the UCL Playoffs.
