Manchester United intend to retain one of their most gifted young players within the first-team squad.
Ethan Wheatley is expected to stay at Manchester United throughout the upcoming summer period, as there are no intentions to send the young player on loan.

During the next weeks of the transfer window, it is anticipated that a number of young players would depart on temporary agreements. However, Wheatley will not be among them, as Erik ten Hag is eager to keep the striker on the team until at least January. At that point, the situation will be reevaluated.

Wheatley joined an elite group of academy graduates who have played a first-team game for United, being the 250th player to do so. He made his appearance in the later stages of United’s Premier League victory over Sheffield United in April. He made a total of three appearances for the United first-team during the previous season and participated in all five friendly matches over the summer.

The acquisition of Joshua Zirzkee from Bologna has prompted speculation regarding Wheatley’s position this season and whether a temporary transfer would be advantageous for him, particularly given United’s imminent purchase of 16-year-old forward Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal. Nevertheless, ManchesterWorld has received information that a final decision has been reached to retain Wheatley at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund’s injury will result in his absence from the club during the initial weeks of the season, emphasising the necessity for supplementary choices at the forward position. United chose to field a team without a designated striker in the Community Shield match on Saturday, and Zirkzee did not come in as a substitute.

According to recent sources, Wheatley, Harry Amass, and Toby Collyer have been promoted to the first team. He was included in Ten Hag’s team as shown on the Wembley matchday program over the weekend. He has been given the number 36 shirt for the next season, after wearing number 84 last season.

Over the last year, the 18-year-old individual from Stockport achieved the esteemed Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year Award, surpassing Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeill in terms of young performance. Since then, the latter player has permanently transferred to Sheffield Wednesday, while Hugill has been loaned to Wigan Athletic.
