Manchester United has allegedly received an enhanced proposal from Real Betis for the acquisition of winger Antony during the January transfer window.

On Friday, speculations emerged indicating that the La Liga club was keen on acquiring the Brazilian to enhance their offensive capabilities. Nonetheless, with Antony reportedly earning £200,000 weekly at Old Trafford, Real Betis requested that United cover a substantial portion of his wages under the loan agreement.

Amidst United’s struggle with Financial Fair Play (FFP) standards, it is believed they were reluctant to assume the majority of Antony’s wages solely to create a vacancy in their roster. Nevertheless, a recent report from Marca asserts that Real Betis has presented a revised and enhanced proposal to United for the winger.

Recent reports suggest that negotiations between the sides have escalated in recent days, with Real Betis prioritising Antony as their primary objective. Upon ascertaining the terms United would accept for their winger’s loan for the balance of the season, the Spanish club’s subsequent offer approached the Reds’ requirements significantly.

Real Betis is reportedly eager to finalise a deal for Antony expeditiously and efficiently this winter, given they currently occupy a mid-table position. They are presently in the Conference League and will compete against Gent in the play-offs in an effort to qualify for the knockout stages.

Antony’s tenure at United has thus far been a complete failure. His failure to score from point-blank range on Thursday night, while the Reds were behind against Southampton, encapsulated the situation effectively.

Fortunately, an Amad hat-trick salvaged the situation and averted additional scrutiny on Antony. The Brazilian has scored only 12 goals and provided five assists in 95 games with the Reds.
