Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, had questioned his future with the team at the conclusion of the last campaign, but it now appears like he will stay with the Red Devils.

As he gets about to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has stated clearly that his team needs to get better.

Fernandes was a standout player for the Red Devils during Erik ten Hag’s team’s dismal season the previous year. Even though they were the FA Cup winners, they were relegated to eighth place in the Premier League and bottom of their Champions League group.

After that really miserable year, there were some doubts about Fernandes’s future. Even the midfield player himself made a suggestion that he would consider leaving United during the summer transfer window.

Nevertheless, he has stuck with United and led Ten Hag’s team in their Community Shield loss to Manchester City. After the game, Fernandes expressed his desire to push his teammates to get better.

“At the start of the season, winning the Community Shield, or the Cup, was our primary goal. Since what we accomplished the previous season was not what the club required, we now need to focus on Fulham and get off to a better start this season,” he stated.

“We want to deliver something distinctive and we also have expectations of ourselves. No one in the world wants to win more than everyone in that locker room, thus we want to win games because the supporters want to see their team succeed.

We will thus do everything in our power to ensure that the supporters have a great season. We want to make a difference because we know that their previous season was as horrible and difficult as it was for us.

As he gets ready to sign a new deal with United, Fernandes makes this demand of his teammates. The Portuguese player is almost certain to sign an extension after holding lengthy negotiations with the club’s executives.

He is set to continue earning almost £300,000 a week in pay as one of United’s highest-paid players according to the agreement. That will effectively put an end to any rumours of his leaving and keep him at Old Trafford until at least 2027.

Even though Fernandes had previously made it clear he was amenable to leaving, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the controlling co-owner, was unprepared to lose United’s captain. Ratcliffe approved a large salary increase in order to keep Fernandes on board.

Ten Hag will benefit greatly from the signing as Fernandes, 29, commits his prime years to the team. Under Ratcliffe’s direction, the Dutchman will now be counting on the midfielder to take the lead in United’s new chapter.

“The new season is upon us. The new structure has my complete satisfaction. Together, we are doing excellent work. The team has always been strong, but I believe we can improve. After City’s loss, he stated, “I think we can take positives from pre-season as well as today.”

But I believe we can succeed as a team if we take charge and become more clinical in both areas. The most crucial part is the league start. I believe there are many things we can learn from this game, and it will boost our confidence in addition to giving us some stomach ache.”
