In an incredible £54 million deal, Chelsea has acquired Pedro Neto, a winger for Wolves, to move to Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese player, who has drawn interest from Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle, will have a physical before committing to the Blues on a long-term deal.

Gary O’Neill, the manager of Wolves, has earlier said that if a sizable bid satisfied their appraisal, they would not obstruct Neto’s progress. A week before Wolves take on Arsenal in the Premier League opener, Chelsea has now offered the money to entice the Portugal international away from Molineux.

Agent Jorge Mendes was instrumental in the agreement that made Neto Chelsea’s tenth summer acquisition. With three years remaining on his Wolves deal, the club had no pressing need to offload him.

Despite hamstring problems, Neto scored twice in 20 games the previous season and was present in all three of Portugal’s group stage matches at Euro 2024.

Before Chelsea’s most recent offer was approved, Wolves are thought to have rejected player-plus-cash offers from both Spurs and Chelsea.

Wolves swiftly rejected Tottenham’s request to include midfielder Oliver Skipp. Chelsea’s first cash-only offer was also rejected before they raised their offer.

Carlos Forbs, a former Manchester City youth standout who is presently at Ajax, is apparently being considered by Wolves as a possible Neto replacement.

Forbs, 20, completed a £16.3 million move from City to Ajax in 2023 following the collapse of a bid to West Ham.

On Friday morning, Neto said goodbye to his Wolves teammates and left for London to have a medical exam.

After reaching an agreement to sign Neto, Chelsea will have an incredible 46 players in their roster one week before the 2024–25 Premier League season begins.

As players compete for a starting spot, Enzo Maresca faces a difficult problem in keeping them satisfied, while Todd Boehly will be eager to sell in order to raise the money he needs.
