Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, has written a message to Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace, as his transfer drama draws to a close.

Due to Gallagher’s perceived role in Mauricio Pochettino’s mutually agreed-upon departure at the start of the summer, it was widely anticipated that the Blues would sell him. Over the weekend, rumours circulated that Gallagher had received word from the team that, upon his return from his pre-season vacation, he would be kicked out of the starting lineup.

In an interview, Enzo Maresca addressed this and said that Gallagher had contacted the Blues in an attempt to put an end to the doubts surrounding his future. This morning, Football.london revealed that the 24-year-old is in Madrid before to his Atletico Madrid medical.

As far as we know, Gallagher turned down three different contract offers from the Blues in order to seek a fresh opportunity away from Stamford Bridge. The two clubs are rumoured to have agreed on a cost of £33 million in an attempt to put an end to the story.

Taking a break from worrying about his future, Gallagher thanked fans on social media this past weekend after losing to Spain at Euro 2024. He wrote a message to former Chelsea colleague Guehi on Instagram. The centre back stated in the post: “It was time for me to come on here and thank everyone for their support after taking some time out to recuperate and think back on this summer!

“Playing in a senior tournament with England was incredible, and even if we didn’t win, I have no doubt that we’ll return! This group is extremely unique. I give thanks to God for this chance.

“A huge thank you to each and every fan. During the competition, we experienced several incredible moments, and you guys helped us get through some difficult times.

“To sum up, I want to sincerely thank Gareth for everything that he has done for me. Without your confidence in me, I wouldn’t be here. I hope the future holds nothing but the best for you! I’m grateful.

In response to Guehi’s tweet, Gallagher wrote: “Finally man,” which was seen as a reference to the defender’s social media posts.
