This week, Amorim started working as the new Manchester United manager.
Ronaldo shares his opinions about Red Devils’ new manager, Bernardo Silva, a Portuguese teammate who is eager to watch Amorim play.

As Ruben Amorim starts his job as manager of Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has sent him his warmest wishes.

After leaving Sporting CP earlier this week, Amorim joined United. Ahead of his debut game as manager against Ipswich Town, he has already started working with the players who did not go for international service.

Ronaldo acknowledged that the Red Devils are in dire need of some “luck” when it comes to managers, and there are great expectations for Amorim, who many United supporters have backed to finally turn the club’s fortunes around.

Ronaldo added, “I wish Ruben Amorim all the luck in the world because Manchester needs it,” following two goals in Friday’s 5-1 victory over Poland.

As he gets ready to join Sporting CP technical director Hugo Viana at the Etihad Stadium next season, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva expressed his excitement about seeing more of his compatriots in the Premier League, joining Ronaldo as the only Portugal player questioned about Amorim following the game.

“Having another coach and a director, who will be on my side from next season, increases the representation of Portuguese people in the best league in the world,” Silva stated. “I can honestly say that it always makes me feel really proud.

“This nation has a huge impact on football, which makes it both small and large at the same time.

“I still don’t know Hugo Viana personally, but I’m happy that we have another one to help and, being Portuguese, there’s always a slightly more special connection.”
