Breaking News: Howard Webb approves of Arsenal VAR red card and says one superstar player is blame
A few of the most recent Premier League refereeing and VAR rulings have been scrutinised by Howard Webb.
The decision by VAR to dismiss William Saliba, a star for Arsenal, during the Gunners’ most recent loss to AFC Bournemouth has been scrutinised by PHMOL chief Howard Webb. In comparatively close quarters, Saliba and Ben White were first given yellow cards after Saliba pulled down Cherries forward Evanilson.
However, after a review, VAR told referee Robert Jones to send Saliba out for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity for Arsenal. The VAR intervention was legitimate, according to PGMOL chief Webb, who also stated that Saliba owes Leandro Trossard for his termination.
“I believe that William Saliba’s offence in this case did deprive Evanilson of a clear goal-scoring opportunity,” Webb stated. The yellow card Rob Jones gave on the pitch, in my opinion, was blatantly incorrect.
Evanilson is put in after a clumsy pass back by Leandro Trossard, and Saliba subsequently clutches him. The officials are forced to make a snap decision when Arsenal rapidly gains possession. Denial of clear goalscoring opportunity (DOGSO) can occasionally provide you time to mentally get ready for what’s about to happen.
At first, they think Ben White was nearer than he really was. Additionally, they didn’t think Evanilson would be in possession of the ball. VAR has two options to demonstrate that the on-field call was incorrect in this case. First of all, Ben White is far away, as you can see.
“From there, he won’t be able to reach Evanlison. Second, even though the ball is a little far from goal, they can see that David Raya is backing off and will jump on it when it dies in front of Evanilson. He will have enough time to develop good control so that the goalie can beat him. Therefore, in my opinion, the VAR made a good intervention by failing to display a red card on the pitch, which was a glaring and obvious mistake.
“It’s a split second decision you have to make,” Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal at the time, said of the choice. He’s lying on his back. He obviously doesn’t think the ball will come his way out of the blue. All he did was make a decision. For Tuesday [against Shakhtar Donetsk], we must accept it, move on, and endure the anguish we are currently experiencing.
