In a surprising move, Man United and Everton have resumed negotiations for Jarrad Branthwaite’s acquisition, sources have told Football Insider.

The titans of the Premier League are putting in a fresh bid this week, reportedly for £60 million, which will include add-ons.

Football Insider has been informed by sources that United is optimistic Everton will accept this, even though the Merseyside club turned down earlier offers this summer.

The 20-time winners saw their first offer of £35 million plus add-ons turned down, and their second offer of £50 million was also turned down.

The 21-year-old is valued at approximately £80 million by Everton this summer, despite interest from teams like Manchester United and Manchester City.

The central defender and United had previously in the transfer window agreed to personal terms on a £160,000-per-week contract, according to Football Insider.

Leny Yoro is one of the defensive possibilities Erik ten Hag signed this summer, but he will miss three months of activity due to a foot ailment.

According to reports, Matthijs de Ligt is heading to England today to finalise his anticipated move to Old Trafford.

The team still hopes to bring Branthwaite in before the deadline, even with those transfers.

The England international has been the team’s top summer target, and Ten Hag would have three excellent options to choose from if he signed him.

The prospects of a few current Man United players are called into question by the prospect of three new central defenders.
