But aside from the young Argentinean player and Diallo, to a certain extent, none of the other players stood out last term.

Erik ten Hag is putting a lot of support on players like Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho to return to their peak performance levels heading into the new season. If not, Manchester United might see another season of struggling on the wings.

A different approach to this may be to hire a proven somebody who can start working right immediately. The Barcelona winger Raphinha is the player that Manchester United fans adore the most, according to Spanish publication SPORT [picture at the end].

The 27-year-old Brazilian has communicated to the decision-makers his desire to stay at the Spanish club over the summer. Raphinha is one of those players that Barcelona may be able to fetch a decent price for, but they still need to sell.

Man Utd is prepared to let go of players like Antony and Sancho this summer in order to create space for his signing. The Red Devils paid enormous sums of money for both players, but their Old Trafford careers have been marred by controversy.

Man Utd wants to sell Sancho for £40m. They are open to accepting bids to split with Antony for as little as about £25 million. If these deals close, the club will have received a total of £65 million. They would then have the money to recruit Raphinha, who is valued at about £51 million by Barcelona.

Raphinha has experience in the Premier League, having previously played for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

Although he won’t be the first player to bridge the Leeds-Man Utd gap in his career, it should lessen a little because he is not doing it directly.

In his two seasons at Barcelona, the 27-year-old Brazilian has been incredibly reliable, but he doesn’t get the same recognition as some of his teammates.

Becoming a Manchester United player might help him establish himself as one of the world’s best creative wingers. This summer, we’ll see if the agreement is finalised.
