As he enforces a new style of play at Old Trafford, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim may be able to elevate a wonderkid to his first team squad.

Although he still needed to complete the procedures related to his work permit before he could take to the training field, Amorim formally assumed leadership of United on Monday.

He has been speaking with players in the meantime and outlining some of his initial requests for Carrington training sessions.

Amorim will spend limited time with his international players before the November 24 trip to Ipswich Town, as he attempts to put his preferred 3-4-3 tactical scheme into practice.

The fact that some United players are not accustomed to filling the precise positions that the system requires, particularly at wing-back, presents another problem for the 39-year-old.

Under Gareth Southgate, Luke Shaw has played there for England, although he is still not fully recovered. Noussair Mazraoui is another player who is expected to play on the right side.

However, the Moroccan will have little opposition, especially because Tyrell Malacia and Shaw are recovering from injuries and Diogo Dalot will be playing on the opposite flank.

Amorim reportedly wants to carry on the club’s record of providing young players with opportunities by elevating another wonderkid from United’s junior setup.

According to the Manchester Evening News, despite just being 16 years old, winger Bendito Mantato’s chances of making the first squad have improved.

He is reportedly viewed by Amorim as a possible wing-back on both sides.

Since joining United in the summer, Mantato has only played for the U18 team. He is also an England U17 international.

He was not utilised as a substitute despite being listed on the U21 bench for their most recent Bristol Street Motors Trophy match against Forest Green.

Mantato’s speed and dribbling are two of his strongest qualities, although the MEN say he has been internally compared to Bukayo Saka because he began his career in a more defensive role before maybe progressing.
