Despite strong support from the new Manchester United board during the summer transfer window, Erik ten Hag was shown the Old Trafford exit door last month.

Teddy Sheringham has informed the board of Manchester United that there are concerns regarding their support of Erik ten Hag and his poor transfer policy.

Despite having the worst Premier League finish ever the previous season, the now-departed Dutchman was given a contract extension going into the summer window, along with a sizeable budget. Although replacement options had been sought out earlier, his FA Cup victory had seemed to win him enough credit in the bank.

The club’s management, led by INEOS and new minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, spent more than £180 million on five first-team players, including former Ajax aces Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, whom Ten Hag knew and campaigned for.

However, the new hires didn’t assist the Red Devils’ poor start to the season, and the 54-year-old was fired as a result. According to Sheringham, United’s board may have dried up cash by throwing money at Ten Hag, and they will have some questions to answer in the upcoming months now that Ruben Amorim has been appointed and a new identity is pending.

Sheringham, who played more than 150 games for United, told Best Offshore Sportsbooks, “It’s good in that the United directors backed their man and gave him money to make signings, but it was so evident from the outside that Ten Hag wasn’t up to the job.”

What are you doing? was the question. Why are you allowing this man to spend more money? He has already squandered a significant amount of cash on players. Many of the players he has purchased say, “Oh, that’s a few quid.” Yes, I will go play for Manchester United. That will work.

Wearing the garment with pride is one thing; stealing a few pounds because someone has paid a lot of money for you is quite another. Too many players have shown up at United believing that’s it. I’ve succeeded. That is insufficient by Manchester United’s standards.

“I know that the manager or head coach is so important in the club because you have in your hands the engine of the club,” said Amorim, the new manager of Manchester, in his first interview as manager, indicating that he will not be resting on his laurels. Although I am aware of that, I still want to participate. Being solely in command is not what I want.”

Sunday’s road match against Ipswich Town, who defeated Tottenham Hotspur the previous time out, will be Amorim’s debut game as manager. However, the 39-year-old believes his young team is up to the task of changing their fortunes, even though they will need some time to get used to the ways of the former Ten Hag.

“They are prepared,” Amorim continued. The pressures of playing for Manchester United are something they are ready to handle. However, we must begin without fear and without considering that they are not accustomed to playing in this manner. I’m not thinking about this. No matter what, they will begin with our idea on the first day.
