Breaking News: Manchester City ‘agree personal terms’ with £85 million Premier League midfielder – DONE DEAL

Lucas Paqueta of West Ham and Brazil has apparently “agreed personal terms” with Premier League champion Manchester City.

While Pep Guardiola and his players are certainly still focused on their on-field responsibilities, Txiki Begiristain and his transfer-focused officials at Etihad Stadium will be hard at work building plans for the upcoming transfer window.

In addition to their success in the Premier League and Emirates FA Cup, Manchester City is poised to achieve an unprecedented feat by defeating Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

Though Guardiola’s team might be up to the challenge this season, worries about the futures of the players on his roster mean club officials will probably need to step up this summer to make sure the Catalan team stays competitive.

In light of the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Kalvin Phillips and Bernardo Silva, the defending Premier League champions will now have to negotiate for a new central midfield player. A name that most fans are familiar with is emerging as a strong contender for a position that may become available.

Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato reports that Manchester City and Lucas Paquetá, a star midfielder for West Ham and Brazil, have now agreed on personal terms, including contract length and salary.

Although West Ham and Manchester City are said to be in no talks or negotiations, it is said that the players’ representatives anticipate that the two teams will discuss a transfer this summer.

The London Stadium team is believed to value their star midfield player at more than £80 million, and there are rumors circulating that Manchester City made a bid that was higher than that amount during the previous summer transfer window.

Following Ilkay Gundogan’s departure for FC Barcelona, Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term hamstring injury, and worries within the team that Pep Guardiola wouldn’t have the depth at his disposal to compete, the north-west club expressed interest in the player.

Although the Football Association’s ongoing investigation into gambling allegations caused that deal to fall through, Manchester City still seems interested in the player, and talks may pick back up in the upcoming weeks.
