Marcus Rashford and Casemiro agree on Man United’s first training session under Ruben Amorim

After his first training session as Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim has received the approval of both Marcus Rashford and Casemiro.

Last week, the recently hired head coach was unable to oversee practice because he was awaiting the issuance of his work permit. The 39-year-old, however, took to the turf at Carrington for the first time on Monday as his United teammates got to work after his visa was granted.

During the workout, players with long-term injury concerns Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro were observed. Before Amorim’s first game on Sunday against Ipswich Town (4.30pm), those on international duty are prepared to return later this week.

They can have a full week of training under their new head coach, who is also the second-youngest manager in the Premier League after Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler, since Brazil midfielder Casemiro and England forward Rashford were not picked by their respective countries for this break.

Amorim started evaluating his team in preparation for his debut game, and both players were observed grinning. Following the training, the two shared their opinions on social media later in the day.

“Top session today,” Rashford commented on his Instagram story after posting a picture of himself grinning with the ball at his feet. In the meantime, Casemiro posted the following on X: “[top emoji] training.”

Before leaving eight days ago, Casemiro started all four of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s games as interim head coach. Rashford came off the bench in the 2-0 Europa League victory over PAOK, and he started three of those games.

The 3-4-3 configuration, which hasn’t been utilised at Old Trafford since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rule ended in 2021, is the one that Amorim is anticipated to deploy. He used it virtually exclusively at Sporting CP.

Amorim will play their first Europa League home game against Bodo/Gimt on Thursday after their upcoming trip to Ipswich on Sunday.
