Roy Keane has singled out three Red Devils players who have worried him ahead of the season as Manchester United gets ready for the new campaign.

In advance of the upcoming Premier League season, Roy Keane has named three Manchester United players who give him concern.

The first game of Erik ten Hag’s third season at Old Trafford is a challenging home matchup against Fulham. The addition of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to the Red Devils has given them a fresh appearance, and the Dutchman will be leading this team.

This season, United has signed Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee and 18-year-old defence prospect Leny Yoro from Bayern Munich, for an absurdly high sum of money. But among the players Keane is concerned about is the latter.

The former captain of United also expressed his worries about Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana, two players who earned lucrative contracts the previous season.

Keane stated on the Stick to Football podcast: “I’m always concerned about competing. The spine of that Manchester United team continues to scare me. Despite their impressive play and talented players, my concerns remain with the custodian and strikers.

“They have a respectable team on paper, but in practice they have been incredibly open, as evidenced by their league record from the previous season. I’m concerned about the team’s spine if you insist on competing.

Gary Neville acknowledged that he is also concerned about Luke Shaw’s injury history and the fact that United has not yet signed a replacement left back. “Injuries are the massive thing for Manchester United,” he continued.

Particularly noteworthy is the addition of De Ligt, who captained Ten Hag at Ajax during their run to the 2019 Champions League final. “As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt an excitement about the opportunity for a new challenge at such a historic club,” the former Bayern Munich defender stated after joining the team.

“The vision that the football leadership outlined and the part they saw for me in it struck me during the conversations that followed. I’m excited to collaborate with Erik ten Hag once more because he helped build my early career and he knows how to bring out the best in me.

“I’m determined to maintain that record at this special club because I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level.”
