Even though Manchester United suffered another disappointing outcome with a 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal, Roy Keane has urged the team to support Erik ten Hag and give him more time to turn the club’s fortunes around. The pressure on the Dutch head coach is growing as the Red Devils may have to play without European football next season.

However, after two years under Ten Hag’s leadership, Keane wants United to demonstrate their faith. When asked if he thought Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the new INEOS hierarchy could break with the current boss, he said, “I hope he’s given more time.”

Former Sunderland and Ipswich manager Keane has defended the current United manager vehemently and cautioned supporters not to overlook the encouraging signs displayed last season, which included winning the Carabao Cup.

The Irishman also referred to the squad’s extensive injury list, which has severely damaged it throughout the season. Captain Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, and Harry Maguire are just a few of the important players who will be sidelined for Arsenal’s visit.

Keane saw where Ten Hag was coming from after seeing the former Ajax player be surprisingly positive in his post-match interview, where he took the positives from the loss. According to Keane, “He’s an experienced manager,” Sky Sports. “(It’s) definitely not easy to be interviewed after a game when this team’s statistics are so bad—in terms of record losses, standings in the standings, and difficulties in Europe…

“Yes, they have a difficult interview; they have a cup final in a few weeks. He’s attempting to maintain his good attitude in the face of challenging inquiries about the players behind him and his tactical prowess.

Is he capable tactically? I hope that’s the case. He is quite open about the injuries, which leads me to believe that the team has had real issues. However, I suppose you eventually lose that belief when you start losing games and find yourself in eighth place in the table.

“However, I would never sit in the studio and wish for the manager to be fired or think anything similar. I’m hoping for more time for him. They can get back together and, if necessary, reorganize the club once summer arrives.

“The club is facing serious issues, but I hope he is given an opportunity to turn things around because, let’s face it, there were some good things last year. However, he is under a great deal of pressure and faces enormous challenges ahead.”
