Viktor Gyokeres, the star of Sporting Lisbon, is being advised not to reunite with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, despite the fact that he has become Europe’s most sought-after transfer target.

Viktor Gyokeres ought to choose Arsenal over Manchester United.

Anders Limpar, a Swedish midfielder who played with the Gunners from 1990 to 1994, has come to that conclusion.

Despite attention from other clubs throughout the continent, Limpar, 59, believes he has been a long-time mentor to Gyokeres, 26. He believes that one of Europe’s most sought-after center-forwards should pick Mikel Arteta’s team.

Under new United head coach Ruben Amorim, Gyokeres has become a sensation at Sporting Lisbon this season. Additionally, the former Coventry player scored four goals in Tuesday night’s UEFA Nations League thumping of Azerbaijan by his national squad.

“I was kind of a mentor to Gyokeres when he played at Brommapojkarna, together with Ludwig Augustinsson, and I know him personally. Thus, we’ve discussed work-related topics a lot,” Limpar told FotbollDirekt.

“He is an incredibly diligent forward with a high goal total.

“He will undoubtedly give me a call if we at Arsenal [were] to acquire Gyokeres. However, it would be insane to see Gyokeres at Arsenal.

“He works like a crazy person.” Viktor uses painful runs to get into the game when it doesn’t work out.

“Other elite forwards store their energy and don’t put in as much effort for the team when they’re struggling, but Viktor never does. It has gone so well because he uses runs to get into a game when things are a little slow.

Limpar also believes that Gyokeres, who gained experience at Coventry City in the Championship before moving to Lisbon, will have no trouble adjusting to life in the Premier League.

He went on: “We must keep in mind that the Premier League is better than the Portuguese league, but he scored a hat-trick when Manchester City visited Lisbon, so he is more than capable of scoring in England.

“He is familiar with the English mindset, having played for Coventry and scored goals. His next move, in my opinion, will be to play in the Premier League, where he will have complete control over which team he plays for.”
