Brighton & Hove Albion believed they had gained the advantage early in the second half against Manchester United, but VAR intervened and disallowed Joao Pedro’s goal.

The Premier League has released a statement following Brighton’s disallowed goal in their away encounter against Manchester United.

Joao Pedro, who netted the decisive goal when the two faced one other at the Amex Stadium earlier this season, believed he had scored once more. However, Jan Paul van Hecke was adjudged to have fouled Diogo Dalot earlier in the sequence.

“The referee’s decision of a goal was reviewed by VAR, which determined that van Hecke committed a foul on Dalot during the buildup and suggested an on-field review,” stated a post from the Premier League Match Centre account. The referee rescinded the initial ruling, resulting in the goal being disallowed.

Not everyone were in consensus, as commentator Richard Keys criticised the judgement. “They are jesting,” Keys posted on social media. It is a travesty to disallow that Brighton goal. Utterly absurd. Controversial.

The score was tied at 1-1 after Joao Pedro’s goal was disallowed. Yankuba Minteh scored to give the visitors the lead, followed by Bruno Fernandes equalising from the penalty spot.

Notwithstanding the annulled goal, Brighton regained the lead about at the hour mark. Kaoru Mitoma assisted Minteh for the opening goal, and the roles were reversed for the Seagulls’ second goal.

Joao Pedro’s goal was not the sole attempt annulled after a VAR review during the Premier League matches on Sunday. Nottingham Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic believed he had extended Nuno’s team’s lead to 4-1 against Southampton, but an offside decision thwarted the struggling side.

Manchester United entered their match against Brighton following a tense victory against Southampton. Amad netted a hat-trick in the closing 10 minutes against Ivan Juric’s team, prompting United manager Ruben Amorim to contemplate that performance before to the match against Brighton.

It is essential to maintain composure and articulate the necessary changes to assist the athletes effectively. “Subsequently, we will have the opportunity to express our anger towards them,” stated the head coach.

“I believe and assert that, today, we did not perform adequately.” In the first half, we had significant difficulties, yet I perceived that certain players were fatigued. When they are fatigued, they endeavour, and I bear the responsibility to assist them. Occasionally to alter them. That concludes my contribution.
