According to sources, Manchester United is prepared to take a sledgehammer to their struggling team, and all but three of the players who share a trait are up for sale.
In the more than ten years since Sir Alex Ferguson departed the team, Manchester United has been characterized by excessive expenditure and poor results. Both of those tendencies are being attempted to be reversed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS colleagues, with new manager Ruben Amorim reportedly operating on a smaller budget than his predecessors.
Man Utd has to sell successfully so that Amorim may rebuild the team to fit his vision. Additionally, just three current United players are unreachable by interested parties, per a recent update from talkSPORT.
Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo, and Kobbie Mainoo are the three individuals in question. All three of them celebrities have one thing in common: they are still young and have years left to live.
High-profile players like Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford appear to be available for the proper price, while only Mainoo, Amad, and Garnacho are ringfenced.
To help them stay within PSR regulations, the article also stated that Man Utd “are open to offers for virtually every other player (beyond Mainoo, Amad, and Garnacho).”
Amorim’s top transfer priority is to get a left-footed wing-back. There will also likely be a reunion with Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres.
Martinez and Rashford have been strongly linked to surprise departures in 2025, and significant sales may be necessary to support their moves and many more.
Marcus Rashford to PSG, Lisandro Martinez to Real Madrid?
Real Madrid is reportedly interested in 26-year-old Martinez, according to TBR Football. In 2025, Los Blancos want to add a right-back, left-back, and center-back to their defense.
Martinez’s ability to play both left and center back would provide versatility. And if Real Madrid shows interest, Manchester United might be ready to cash in, according to talkSPORT.
The tough defender was recognized as a “fan favorite” at Old Trafford. But if the price is good, that won’t stop United from taking a brutal stance and authorizing a sale.
Rashford, a homegrown star, can depart by next summer at the latest, according to reports from Sky Germany and The Telegraph.
There are now two explanations for that position. The first is that Rashford has failed to provide evidence to support his extravagant £300,000 weekly wage. Additionally, clubs get extra money from the sale of their own stars because the revenues show up as “pure profit” on the balance sheet.
According to The Telegraph, Rashford’s off-field antics are the second reason. Rashford’s lifestyle has reportedly become a source of increasing concern for Manchester United, who feel he lacks focus when it comes to sport.
As a result, if a good offer were made during the winter window next month, Manchester United would not be opposed to selling.
The majority of outlets have agreed that a January exit is unlikely, mainly because clubs often save transactions of that size for the summer window. However, Manchester United will wave good-bye if a team makes a high bid.
Regarding Rashford’s potential future, the Saudi Pro League and PSG were mentioned as potential options.
In November, TEAMtalk received word that Rashford’s team had reconnected with PSG, who have a long-term interest in the 27-year-old.
In other developments, The Sun reports that following the dismissal of Dan Ashworth, Manchester United has canceled the position of sporting director.
It was stated that people in supporting jobs, such Jason Wilcox (technical director), would be given more responsibilities rather than a like-for-like successor.
According to Sky Germany, Alphonso Davies is under pressure from Bayern Munich to sign a contract extension before Christmas.
The 24-year-old Davies is a “dream” target for Amorim’s wing-back hunt and is being pursued by both Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Davies will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign teams on January 1st if he rejects Bayern.
