Celtic-linked striker makes last-minute transfer U-turn

Brendan Rodgers’ recent words have quite clearly indicated that he wants Celtic to sign another striker before the summer transfer window ends. It’s easy to see why that might be the case. Adam Idah has struggled to establish himself as the first-choice number nine. Daizen Maeda, on the other hand, has returned to the wing following Jota’s injury and Nicolas Kuhn’s departure.

That leaves Celtic with few choices in both areas. We can only hope that a good addition is made this summer. Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand have been brought in, although neither is likely to be ready to go. At least they have yet to prove it.

Another striker Celtic have recently been connected with is Napoli’s Giuseppe Ambrosino. He was a standout for Italy’s U21 team recently and has made headlines. Not only do the Hoops want to sign him this summer.

For a long time, it appeared like Ambrosino would depart Napoli this summer. However, it appears that he may have reversed course.

Celtic-linked striker makes a last-minute switch. U-turn
According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via Daily Record), Ambrosino is determined to stay in Napoli and compete for his future. He’s ready to compete with Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Lucca.

So it appears that Ambrosino is not as keen on a move as previously anticipated. Of course, this lowers Celtic’s prospects of signing him this summer. Let’s see what happens to the Italian striker.

Celtic, on the other hand, should focus their attention elsewhere. They don’t have time to procrastinate. If a player is unsure about what he wants to do this summer, the Hoops may not be able to wait for his choice.

It is also worth noting that several teams have already surpassed them in the battle for the Italian striker prior to this update. In fact, Cremonese were confident of receiving a loan with a buy option, but that appears to be out of the question for now.
