One of the main talking points of the FPL debut, which coincides with the start of the new Premier League season next month, has been Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer of Chelsea has had a record-breaking surge in his Fantasy Premier League pricing after an outstanding breakout season. Prior to his move from Manchester City, the 22-year-old, who scored 22 goals and provided 13 assists in the Premier League’s official fantasy football game the previous season, was only worth £5 million.

But his price for the next campaign will be much higher. According to the Mirror, his price has increased by the most in the history of the game, rising from £5.5 million to £10.5 million.

The record was previously held by Andy Carroll, whose transfer to Liverpool in the previous January transfer window caused his worth to treble from £5 million to £10 million ahead of the 2011–12 season. Harry Kane, who joined Tottenham the previous season and won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, is now third on the list due to his price increase from £5 million to £9.5 million for the 2015–16 campaign.

A £4m raise was previously experienced by Charlie Adam (£5m to £9m in 2011/12), Gylfi Sigurdsson (£5m to £9m in 2012/13) and Riyad Mahrez (£5.5m to £9.5m in 2016/17). Adam, like Carroll, had just moved to Liverpool for £6.75 million from relegated Blackpool, where he had played in midfield and contributed eight assists and twelve goals.

Sigurdsson left Hoffenheim for Tottenham in the summer of 2012 for a reported £8 million. In just six months, he scored seven goals and provided four assists on loan at Swansea City.

Mahrez’s worth has increased because of his contribution to Leicester City’s title-winning campaign, which included 17 goals and 10 assists. Palmer is by far the biggest increase this season; the closest contender is Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace, who went from £5 million to £7.5 million.
