Juventus player Douglas Luiz is allegedly prepared to switch to Manchester United in the current winter transfer window.

Luiz excelled for Aston Villa last season, recording an outstanding 10 goals and an equal number of assists as Unai Emery’s team achieved Champions League qualification.

His achievements secured him a £42 million transfer to Juventus this summer; but, he has thus far struggled to integrate into Thiago Motta’s lineup.

The Brazilian experienced a slow beginning at the club following his holiday, having returned with diminished physically and fitness levels. This compelled Motta to sit him for the initial games, but he had an injury that sidelined him for several weeks.

Since his comeback, Luiz has been unable to integrate with the team.

A prior report by The Peoples Person indicated that Luiz’s agent, who also represents Joshua Zirkzee, suggested a transaction that would facilitate the former Aston Villa player’s transfer to Old Trafford in exchange for Zirkzee.

With increasing interest in Luiz from other Premier League clubs, TuttoMercatoWeb reports that the 26-year-old will only depart Turin for two destinations: United and Manchester City.

Luiz’s agent is reportedly in Turin, maybe meeting with Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli to discuss the midfielder’s future.

Currently, potential destinations such as Nottingham Forest and Fulham do not especially attract Luiz, despite their commendable performance in the top division this season.

Upon Zirkzee’s signing with the Old Lady, TMW observes, “The circumstances appear unequivocal: Manchester United is not amenable to loaning him, having previously done so with Rashford in the same transfer window, making it improbable that both will depart.”

If Luiz were to join United, he would likely serve as a substitute for compatriot Casemiro.

Casemiro remains heavily associated with a transfer to the Saudi Pro League, and should he leave, United may acquire a loan player to guarantee that Ruben Amorim has sufficient choices in midfield.
