Deal getting closer for Arteta to sign £80m striker as club agrees to lower asking price to let him join Arsenal this summer

As a result of the club’s agreement to reduce the asking price, Arteta is moving closer to signing a midfielder for £80 million, which will allow him to join Arsenal this summer.

It is possible that Manchester United’s efforts to get Benjamin Sesko might be jeopardised due to the fact that Arsenal is contemplating negotiating an agreement to acquire the striker in January in order to protect themselves from competition from other major European clubs.

Since Erik ten Hag’s first summer at Old Trafford, when they were closely connected to him in 2022, there have been claims that both Manchester United and the 21-year-old player have shown interest in working together.

Ultimately, the Slovenian made the decision to remain with Red Bull Salzburg for one further year before moving on to Red Bull Leipzig in the summer of 2023.

It is said that the Red Devils have kept an interest in the forward and have pursued him throughout the summer. They ended up settling for Joshua Zirkzee only after they recognised that they were unable to get the strong striker during the most recent transfer window.

According to a story that was published earlier this month, United Airlines would be prepared to part ways with Zirkzee after a period of less than a year if doing so would allow them to get the services of Sesko.

With six goals and three assists in 10 appearances this season, including three goals in the Champions League, the Slovenian international has continued to establish his ever-growing reputation. He has scored six goals and assisted on three more with goals.

There is a possibility that United may be confronted with intense competition from Premier League opponents, which may cause their intentions to acquire the young player to be derailed.

It has been reported by GiveMeSport that Arsenal may make an effort to reach an agreement with Benjamin Sesko in the month of January, with the ultimate goal of completing the transfer to the Emirates Stadium over the summer in the future.

Worryingly for United, “they have been given hope of reaching an agreement as his current employers are prepared to sanction his departure for somewhere in the region of fifty million pounds.”

Sesko has just signed a new contract with the Bundesliga club in order to strengthen their hand in talks. However, it is believed that his side would only seek for a fee that is “market-value” and will not prevent their star striker from going to a larger team.

While it is not anticipated that Arsenal will be able to entice the player to join them in January, there is a “verbal pact” that he will be allowed to go in the summer. This might perhaps pave the way for a pre-agreement to be reached during the winter transfer window.

In addition, considering that the Gunners are presently competing in the Champions League and are in third place in the Premier League standings, it is possible that United will have a difficult time competing for the extremely dangerous attacker. In order to convince him to leave Germany, United would need to present a persuasive argument.
