The English right-back and the Hammers have reportedly reached a verbal understanding over a prospective summer transfer, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg. He claims that “personal terms have been agreed” for a five-year contract with the London side that will expire in 2029 between the two parties.

Nevertheless, West Ham and the Red Devils have “no agreement yet.” Plettenberg reports that the full-back’s contract is set to end in 2025, and the Hammers have reportedly proposed a fee of about £1 million to sign him. It is also stated that talks are still going on between the two parties over the potential of coming to an agreement, with Ten Hag’s side requesting something in the neighbourhood of £18 million. In order to further bolster their defence, Manchester United may find that this has an effect on their future transfer transactions.

The Red Devils are reportedly interested in Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui, which is why they are willing to transfer Wan-Bissaka. The former Ajax defender and they are said to have already reached a personal agreement; but, they won’t be able to sign him until they have sold other players. They are therefore far along in their talks with the Hammers to get rid of the “impressive” right-back this summer.

The English defender, 26, moved to Old Trafford in 2019 after spending over £45 million to leave Crystal Palace. Wan-Bissaka has gained recognition for his strong tackling and defensive abilities; last year, James Maddison called him “the best” one-on-one defender in the world.

But last season, he lost the right-back position to Diogo Dalot because to his restricted skill set and inability to create a goal threat, and he didn’t perform well under Ten Hag. Even though the Englishman has played 190 games for the Red Devils, it appears that he may soon leave Old Trafford if the two teams can agree on a price.
