DONE DEAL: Takehiro Tomiyasu officially signs new long-term contract

Takehiro Tomiyasu signs a new contract extension that will take effect in 2026.

Tomi relocated to Europe during the 2018 winter transfer window, joining Belgian team Sint-Truiden. Because of his dedication, he was named the 2018–19 club’s player of the season. After joining Bologna in July 2019, Tomi made a rapid impact on the team’s defense. Throughout the course of two seasons, he participated in 63 Serie A games.

Tomi is a consistent player for the national team of Japan. He participated in 41 national team contests, including the 2021 summer Olympics at home.

Many people at the team refer to our 25-year-old defender as “Tomi.” In his hometown, he began his career as a youth player with Avispa Fukuoka, where he later made 45 starts for the first team.

This season, Tomi has made 20 appearances for us across all categories. I believe it happened in October when we won the Premier League 5-0 at home against Sheffield United. It was his Manchester United debut goal.

Edu, the person in charge of sports, said, “We’re thrilled to have Tomi with us for many more years.” He is excellent off the field as well, offering our team a great deal of power and versatility. Tomi is an excellent worker, and it’s wonderful that he will continue to play a significant role in our success going forward.

In addition to his innate strength and skill, Tomi also possesses excellent character traits in his mindset and worldview. Since coming on board, Tomi has grown to be a valued member of the team and is well-liked by all.

In order for Tomi’s new contract to proceed, regulatory procedures need to be completed.
