Enzo Maresca responds to Chelsea critics as woeful pre-season tour ends

Following the conclusion of Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, which resulted in yet another loss, Enzo Maresca has urged the fans of Chelsea to exercise patient.

During their final match across the pond, which took place on Tuesday night, the Blues were defeated by Real Madrid, the champions of the Champions League, by a score of 2-1.

A reunion between Maresca and Carlo Ancelotti, his former coach at Juventus, who also led Chelsea to glory in the Premier League and the FA Cup, took place as a result of this.

In an interview that was broadcast on John Obi Mikel’s podcast, which was made available before the friendly match, Ancelotti expressed his admiration for his fellow Italian.

“When I started this job, I didn’t have any experience,” he stated in response to a question about whether or not Chelsea took a chance on Maresca after only one year at Leicester football club.

Experience is something that cannot be purchased at the grocery store; rather, it is something that requires patience in order to acquire. Consequently, the experience is not the most essential component of our job; but, it is nevertheless a component of our employment.

“The most important part is the knowledge, and for the fact his experience with [Pep] Guardiola, with Leicester, I think he has knowledge to manage and to do well at Chelsea.”

Maresca sent a message to Chelsea’s detractors in response to the positive comments that Ancelotti had spoken about Chelsea prior to the team’s loss to Madrid.

He stated, “This is a process,” which was published on the Chelsea website. It is not reasonable to make the assumption that everything will proceed according to plan after a month has passed.

Carlo’s words were very much appreciated by me. Carlo was my boss, and his career is very remarkable. I remember working under him. As far as I am concerned, he is more knowledgeable than I am, and he is also more knowledgeable than a great number of others working in this industry.

I worked with Carlo when he was close enough to my age at the time, and he was fired by Juventus; but, in the end, it is not something that can be accomplished in a matter of two days. The situation is not the same as that. However, that is not football; it is PlayStation.

“Day-by-day, you need to work and you need time and I know most head coaches ask for time and it sounds like an excuse but it is not an excuse, it is the reality.”

Before being defeated by Celtic by a score of 4-1, Chelsea’s preseason began with a tie against Wrexham, which ended in a score of 2-2.

Later on, the Blues were crushed by Manchester City by a score of 4-2 despite the fact that they had shown more promise in their 3-0 victory over Club America.

Maresca is still of the opinion that his team is becoming better, despite the fact that their performances have been inconsistent and they have only won once this summer.
