Erik ten Hag completes the reunion as Man United’s dream addition, Yoro, who is injured, agrees to a £30 million agreement.
Manchester United appears to have suffered a heavy injury blow prior to the 2024–2025 season: Leny Yoro, a £52 million acquisition, might miss up to two months of action.

It’s believed that Yoro suffered a metatarsal injury during Sunday’s preseason matchup with Arsenal. United took on the Gunners at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

They were defeated 2-1 in ordinary time, but they won 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli’s goals helped Arsenal mount a comeback, but the most disappointing aspect was that Yoro sustained an injury early in the game.

This would have kept him out of the opening two Premier League games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham, as well as the Community Shield match versus Manchester City.

But according to several sources on Wednesday night, Yoro was going to miss up to two months of action due to an awful early-season injury.

Now that Victor Lindelof is poised to finalise his departure, United needs to move, with Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans the senior possibilities.

Beyond Yoro’s comeback, Express Sport looks into two solutions that would improve Ten Hag’s defensive ranks and address his issue.

Signs of Matthijs de Ligt
Matthijs de Ligt would be able to finalise a long-term move to Old Trafford if McTominay or another first-team player were to be sold.

Given that Vincent Kompany is considering other options, most urgently Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen, it seems that De Ligt has no future at Bayern Munich.

After their productive collaboration at Ajax, he is apparently waiting to finalise a move to United, where he will reunite with Ten Hag on personal terms.

The 24-year-old may then compete with Yoro to partner Martinez at the centre of the Red Devils’ defence, with Evans serving as a backup and Maguire covering for the latter.
