The video of former Aston Villa star Jhon Duran being shown a red card while playing for his new club, Al Nassr, has gone viral on the internet, and fans of the club are completely taken aback by the footage.

In what was without a doubt the most shocking transfer of the winter transfer window, Villa star striker Duran joined Al Nassr, a club that competes in the Saudi Pro League, a month ago.

According to reports, the Saudi club paid a total of £64 million in addition to add-ons for the Colombian international player. It is also reported that the player is reportedly earning an astounding salary of €20 million (£16.7 million) per year at his new club.

However, Duran was shown a red card in only his fourth game during his time with Al Nassr, and the fans of Villa are unable to comprehend the reason for this situation.

As a result of Al Nassr’s shocking home loss to eighth-placed Al Ettifaq by a score of 3-2 on Friday afternoon, their seven-match unbeaten streak in the Saudi Pro League came to an end. Additionally, their hopes of catching rivals Al Ittihad at the top of the table were further hampered.

But the most significant event of the game occurred in the 92nd minute, when Duran was shown a straight red card for an altercation with one of his opponents. This was the moment that made the game memorable.

The striker made his dissatisfaction with the outcome known by hitting the Al Ettifaq midfielder Abdulelah Almalki on the back of his head in a playful manner. This caused Almalki, who is thirty years old, to fall to the ground and appeal to the referee, who complied by showing Duran a red card.

“So they watched the VAR video and decided that it was a red card?” was the question that one of the fans asked on social media in response to the video.

An additional person stated, “What irritates me is the manner in which this mf falls on the ground.”

Additionally, another observer said: “‘The player is rolling on the ground like he got shot, that slap wouldn’t even hurt a 5 year old.”

Immediately after Duran was dismissed for the incident, Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of the club, approached the referee to vehemently express his disapproval of the decision. However, it was already too late for Ronaldo to do so.

After Duran got off to a great start with his new club, scoring twice in each of his first two league games, the 21-year-old will now miss Al Nassr’s next three matches, which is a significant blow to their hopes of winning the title.
