FIFA Men’s World Rankings List

Summary
The latest FIFA World Rankings reflect the results of the most recent international break, which occurred in October 2025.
The most recent World Cup champions, France and Argentina, remain among the top three nations in world football.
Portugal and Italy are slowly but steadily climbing the rankings, and both are now in the top ten.
Following a busy few months on the international stage, FIFA has revealed its new world rankings. Nations League and World Cup qualifiers are two of the most recent events, and things are just going to heat up as we approach the final ten months before the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The governing body bases their rankings on points that can be accumulated or deducted based on previous performance. Many nations haven’t been in much competitive activity recently, thus there hasn’t been much movement towards the bottom of the rankings, while other high-profile countries have significantly enhanced their reputation and standing with numerous major results.

That being said, from Peru to Germany, the following are the 50 highest-rated countries in the world of football, according to the FIFA Men’s World Rankings. England, managed by Thomas Tuchel, has qualified for the 2026 World Cup with a perfect record, while Argentina, France, and Spain are rightfully among the top contenders.

Venezuela leads the top 50, having been in decline since the summer of 2025. Their current sequence of results – four consecutive losses to Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, and Argentina – has pushed them down the rankings, leaving them behind Peru, Greece, and Romania, who are placed 49th, 48th, and 47th respectively.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic and Greece may consider themselves unlucky to be rated so low, even if their recent mixed results indicate otherwise. The former were in the top 40 last month but have not won in three straight games; the latter, managed by Ivan Jonavonic, have lost three in a row, putting their World Cup spot in jeopardy for next year.

Tunisia has been quietly gaining traction. They have won five of their last eight games, losing only to Morocco, Africa’s top-ranked team. During that run, they also kept seven clean sheets, making their tiny three-place jump from 46th to 43rd with 1490.8 points appear harsh. They continue to fly under the radar, yet they are currently proving difficult to beat.

One would expect Sweden to have enough firepower to compete with the world’s finest nations, given the talismanic pair of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres. However, they certainly need to make greater use of these assets if they are to achieve the level they desire. Currently, they are ranked 40th.

Paraguay and Scotland are ahead of Sweden in 39th and 38th place, respectively. Hungary is another team that appears to be failing given the potential in their ranks. With Liverpool’s Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai, largely regarded as two of the best midfielders in the world right now, leading the way, expectations are naturally greater.

Wales, ahead of Scotland but below England, is the second-best British team in current rankings, despite failing to qualify for the previous international tournament. They are 34th, while Egypt remains something of a one-man show, with Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah frequently taking the spotlight, making their presence in the top 35 all the more noteworthy.

Finally, Ukraine’s place in the FIFA rankings suffered as a result of their deception in Germany at Euro 2024 – but their current run of three wins in a row might see them return to the top. Erling Haaland of Norway is in 29th place, barely behind Oleksandr Zinchenko and his compatriots; Jesse Marsch of Canada is 1554.63 points ahead of them.

After reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, Turkey’s case would have been greatly aided, as the country climbed a total of 16 places, and they are now ranked 26th. It indicates that, while they have a lot of promise, they have yet to break through that glass ceiling, and their 6-0 loss to Spain, despite being Europe’s reigning champions, demonstrates that they still have a long way to go.

Meanwhile, Denmark, maybe shockingly, is ranked 20th in FIFA’s rankings, despite appearing to be a well-oiled machine under Brian Riemerl; the Scandinavian country last suffered loss in March, when Portugal defeated them 5-2. Japan, Senegal, and Switzerland rank 19th, 18th, and 17th, respectively.

Marcelo Bielsa, one of the highest-paid managers in international football, led Uruguay to a solid performance in his first international tournament, but the powerful have fallen from their pedestal, with the team currently ranked 15th. Mexico is just ahead of them with 1682.52 points, as is Colombia, which is led by Nestor Lorenzo and is currently unbeaten in seven matches.

Morocco, meanwhile, remains one of the ultimate dark horses in recent championships, finishing 11th. They are the only African side in history to reach the World Cup semi-finals, last doing so in Qatar, and will rely on the brilliance of Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi in North America.
