Sheffield Wednesday have pressed the reset button. After years of upheaval under Dejphon Chansiri, the club has formally entered administration, clearing the path for new ownership.

The Thai owner’s tenure has been hampered by unpaid wages, growing debts, and fan dissatisfaction. His hefty £100 million valuation of the club deterred possible purchasers for months, but that is no longer an issue.

With the club currently in administration, The Athletic’s Matt Slater writes that Chansiri will be lucky to receive even £25 million from any sale.

Wednesday now face a 12-point deduction and the prospect of relegation, but the atmosphere at Hillsborough is changing rapidly. Supporters believe this marks the beginning of a long-awaited renovation and a brighter future.
