Before a possible transfer, Manchester United and Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, have reportedly agreed on personal terms, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Man United is now negotiating a contract to acquire Ugarte from PSG. This summer, the team already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

According to Romano, Manchester United and the South American midfield player have “agreed personal terms,” and negotiations over a transfer cost are still going on between the two teams.

After paying £50 million for Ugarte from Sporting, PSG reportedly does not want to sell him for a loss, according to a different update from L’Equipe (via SportWitness).

According to the article, as a result, the French champions are want roughly £59 million for Ugarte. United may suggest a financing arrangement with a buyout option if they are not willing to invest that much money.

Quality United placed eighth in the Premier League standings after an abysmal 2023–24 campaign. They triumphed in the FA Cup, saving their season. Nevertheless, the management will understand that the team needs to get better in order to contend at the highest level once more.

The holding midfield position may be their next top priority after they have already strengthened the central defensive and center-forward positions. The choices from the previous season were Casemiro, Scott McTominay, and Sofyan Amrabat (on loan), but none of them was reliable enough.

Ugarte would be a better choice than them. When the ball is not in his possession, he works extremely hard and is very strong with it. He has a higher success rate and does not hesitate to lunge into tackles, much like Casemiro. At United, he has three years to grow and adjust.

United is unlikely to spend £59 million on the Uruguayan in light of their lavish purchases of Yoro and Zirkzee. They can evaluate whether Ugarte can succeed in the Premier League, therefore a loan agreement seems ideal. On the other hand, because PSG is set to recruit Benfica’s Joao Neves as his successor, they might demand a compulsory buy clause.
