The defender spoke with reporter Alex Aljoe following Tuesday’s match against Atletico Madrid.

Gabriel Magalhaes gave his first post-match interview in English since joining Arsenal, speaking with Amazon Prime reporter Alex Aljoe on Tuesday night.

Gabriel, who joined Arsenal from French club Lille in 2020 for about £27 million, has been one of the team’s most consistent players, alongside defensive partner William Saliba.

In fact, after scoring against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, Gabriel became the first centre-back in Europe’s top five leagues to reach 22 goals since 2020.

The Brazilian, who has scored against Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United throughout the years, shows no signs of slowing down.

This season, he has been directly involved in three goals, while Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is the only centre defender in Europe’s top five leagues with more goal contributions across all competitions.

Gabriel has not only excelled on the pitch, but also off it.

The 27-year-old delivered his first post-match interview in English on Tuesday night, according to Amazon Prime, which spoke with the Brazil international after their 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid.

As shown in the video below, reporter Alex Aljoe asked Gabriel to summarise the game.

Mikel Arteta singled out four players during the Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal maintained their unblemished start to the Champions League league phase with second-half goals from Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Viktor Gyokeres (2).

Mikel Arteta singled out four players in his post-match interview with Amazon Prime: Miles Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel Martinelli, Viktor Gyokeres, and Declan Rice.

Speaking about Lewis-Skelly’s assist, he said: “That’s him, that’s his quality, the way he carries the ball, the ability he has to release the ball at the right time.”

He went on to say, “Martinelli, I thought he was outstanding today. It’s great to see the impact they have on the squad. [I am] overjoyed [for Gyokeres] because he totally deserves it. He contributes significantly to the team’s productivity.

“We appreciate many of the things he does for the team. “Hopefully, this is the beginning of some beautiful sequences.”

Arteta continued, “[Rice’s set-piece delivery] was superb.” We could have scored in the first half, but [we] have the potential to score such goals.”
