‘Go to Celtic’ – Rangers pundit urges £6.3m star to snub Sunderland and join Brendan Rodgers’ side

Celtic and Sunderland had different transfer windows this summer.

Of course, the two are fishing in different markets because Scotland’s champions lack the financial resources of an English Premier League team.

In any case, Celtic have had a dismal transfer window, with the calibre of players they wanted yet to be signed, whilst Sunderland have been as active as anyone since promotion, including the spectacular acquisition of Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, both teams appear to be scouting the Danish market for an upcoming winger, Clement Bischoff, and it is evident where he should go.

Celtic expected to recruit Clement Bischoff ahead of Sunderland.
Bischoff is a highly regarded player for Brondby, one of Denmark’s largest clubs, and they want to participate in the Europa Conference League this season.

It has been stated that Celtic, along with the Black Cats, are interested in the 19-year-old, with a price tag of ‘£6.3 million’ placed on his head.

Former Rangers defender Richard Foster told Go Radio that Bischoff should choose Celtic even if Sunderland offered him ‘double the money.’

Host Paul Cooney said, “Here’s someone else who has been discussed. Clement Bischoff, Brondby’s winger.

“There was an offer from Brighton in February. A £7.2 million transaction fell through. They estimate he is now worth £6.3 million. I’m not sure how you can be so exact.

“But there is interest from Sunderland, as noted there. Brendan Rodgers has stated, “They need a winger.”

Foster answered, “For me, if I’m looking at this, it demonstrates my ignorance, but it also indicates that I don’t care about English football.

“But I’m not even sure what league Sunderland is in. Are they in the championship? Are they back? That’s OK. But, for me, you are heading to Celtic with the potential to play in the Champions League.

“Or you go to Sunderland, which, let’s be honest, will most certainly be cannon fodder for the rest of the league.

“I don’t think there’s a question there. Even if Sunderland offers twice the money, I believe the winger should join Celtic, if that is his preference.”

Bischoff stats for Brondby Celtic has yet to replace Nicolas Kuhn, who has joined Como in Italy, and Jota’s long-term injury leaves little cover.

Perhaps Celtic are waiting to secure Champions League football with the qualifiers just around the horizon, and if that’s the case, the Hoops would have an advantage over Sunderland.

In any case, Bischoff plays on the left flank and had eleven assists in all competitions last season, as well as three goals in seven games this season.

Games: 51.
Goals: Three
Number of assists: 12
