I apologise deeply. He’s our best player so far right now. Erik ten Hag apologised to the Man United player

I apologise deeply for not launching him sooner. He’s our best player thus far right now. Erik ten Hag apologised to the Man United player for constantly ignoring him.

Erik ten Hag criticised Manchester United’s first-half effort, but he believes Alejandro Garnacho’s goal against Everton was likely the greatest of the season.

On Sunday at Goodison Park, Garnacho’s incredible overhead kick goal handed United the lead early and instantly brought back memories of Wayne Rooney’s iconic goal against Manchester City. Ten Hag agrees that the 19-year-old’s incredible goal deserves a shot at goal of the season, but he was not happy with his team’s play afterward.

TEN QUOTES FROM HAG
Most certainly the goal for the season. Not only was the build-up superb, but the finish was too. He told Sky Sports, “The ending is fantastic.” “Once the game started, we became too carefree. I chastised the team at halftime. They thought they were here already. You are not capable of achieving it. On the pitch, you have to spend one hundred minutes. We gave an amazing performance in the second half.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Argentina international Garnacho cried, smiling with satisfaction at his accomplishment, “I cannot believe it.” Really, all I could do was turn around and say, “Oh my god.” I’m happy with my score; it’s among my greatest to date.

“Probably!” was his response when asked if he would win the best goal of 2023–2024 title. Indeed, even though November is still a month away.

WERE YOU AWARENESS?
On Sunday, Garnacho did more than merely copy Rooney’s overhead kick. At 19 years and 148 days, the winger broke the mark set by the United hero and became the youngest Red Devil to score at Goodison Park against Everton.

UPCOMING GOALS FOR UNITED?
Following a thrilling victory against Everton, United will look to continue its momentum against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday. Ten Hag’s team is only one point behind its rivals in the pool for second place, after finishing last in Group A.
