Teenage wonder Archie Grey of Leeds United is being connected to several Premier League teams, and former Whites captain Gordan Strachan believes he understands why.

Anyone who saw Leeds United last season will understand why Archie Grey won the Championship’s young player of the year award and was recognised by England manager Gareth Southgate in dispatches. It’s also easy to see why a few Premier League teams have been closely monitoring his development.

However, it’s a significant leap for anyone to go from playing your entire rookie season in the EFL to being connected to Champions League teams; only the top players should make that move. Gordon Strachan, a former Leeds title winner, is aware that Grey is unquestionably that.

Strachan has made it apparent that he is aware of the Premier League connection between Grey and Leeds United.

The adaptable 18-year-old made his debut for the Whites this season, playing 52 games in a variety of positions as Leeds advanced to the Championship play-off final. However, the season ended in disappointment with a loss to Southampton. Leeds would have to let go of a few important players if they don’t make it to the Premier League, and Grey is one of the most sought-after—and perhaps the one Leeds won’t want to lose.

Reports claim that Tottenham Hotspur is arranging a deal that might involve a trade, with Joe Rodon moving to Elland Road, and that Manchester City, Arsenal, and Brighton are also being linked. To former Leeds player Strachan, the rumour mill indicating a move to the country’s first flight comes as no surprise.

“I’ve been aware of Archie and his sibling for an extended period of time,” Styrachan stated to Prime Casino. “His brother should aspire to be just as good as him. I am extremely familiar with the Grey family. I’ve been aware of the Grey brothers since I’ve heard so much positive feedback about them from individuals I admire.

“I’m thinking to myself, since Archie was twelve, I’ve heard about his potential for brilliance. Everybody constantly tells you stories about this thirteen- or fourteen-year-old kid who is going to be a professional too (laughs), so your natural impulse is to doubt what you’ve heard. However, I watched the lad play with my own eyes.

“Whoa. He can play wherever, it doesn’t matter where you put him. Not every game has seen him play at his best, but that is to be expected from an eighteen-year-old. He’s an incredible prospect. I appreciate his brains. He is capable of playing a variety of positions.

“This prospect possesses every quality you could ask for. I see why so many Premier League teams are interested in signing him.”
