‘I can’t see why’ Liam Manning is being sacked by Norwich City.

This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features personal comments from FLW Fan Pundits on breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.

Liam Manning’s dismal start in the dugout at his hometown club extended on Saturday when Norwich City lost to Swansea.

The defeat was the Canaries’ fifth straight in the Championship, extending their winless streak to eight games.

On October 20, Graeme Bailey wrote that Norwich were prepared for life without the former Bristol City manager; since then, the Canaries have lost two more games. As a result, it is surprising that no announcement has been made as of yet.

Norwich came into this season with great hopes of returning to play-off contention following a disappointing season last year, but the team has deteriorated even further, and Canaries fans are becoming increasingly angry.

Ultimately, the fault lies on the manager, and Zeke Downes, FLW’s Norwich fan analyst, believes it is only a matter of time before a change is made, and his team may hopefully begin to climb out of the relegation zone.

Norwich City fan commentator demands for Liam Manning to be fired.

Norwich are now second-bottom in the Championship, having picked up only eight points this season.

Only Sheffield United has lost more games than the Canaries, and Sheffield Wednesday’s 12-point deduction is the only thing keeping Downes and the rest of the Norwich fan base from falling further behind and worried about finishing at the bottom of the table.

“I’m a bit tired of the whole situation,” Downes stated.

“We’re second bottom in the league, Sheffield Wednesday’s points deduction is saving us from possibly being bottom, and I’m quite shocked at how bad it has been so far.”

While new managers often take some time to adjust to new environments, Liam Manning’s time is definitely running short.

He became the first Norwich manager to lose the East Anglian derby in 16 years, has failed to pick up a point at Carrow Road this season, and is now guiding the team on their worst losing streak in the Championship since January 2016.

“You may accept a few losses as a result of the team’s lack of preparation and the manager’s demand for more time, but to lose so many consecutively… “I don’t understand why they haven’t fired him yet,” Downes continued.

“I don’t understand how they haven’t made that decision yet, and I don’t want to wait until it’s too late.

“If they’re going to make the decision, they need to do it soon, and then we can push ourselves up the league, because as it is now, we’re in a relegation battle.”

It hasn’t worked out for Liam Manning at Norwich City.

When Norwich revealed that Liam Manning had taken over during the summer, many saw it as a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, the hometown CEO has had quite the opposite experience.

It’s clear that recruitment has been a problem at Carrow Road this summer, as the squad hasn’t lived up to the expectations set for them when they signed, and while that’s not Manning’s fault, he will ultimately bear responsibility for poor results, and there have been far too many of those so far in the early stages of this season.

With Manning’s dismissal becoming probable at this point, it will be interesting to watch who the board at Carrow Road turns to in an attempt to coax a tune out of the players.

They’ll be hoping that whoever they do turn to can steer them safely away from relegation before it becomes a serious threat.

It will be much more interesting to see where Liam Manning goes from here. A highly capable manager, as evidenced by his stint at Bristol City, but his brief spell has, surprisingly, lowered his stock somewhat.
