“Until they sell him, I don’t think Arsenal can win the Champions League.”At Wembley Stadium, legendary football manager Jose Mourinho declared that Arsenal’s chances of winning the UCL would never materialise unless they trade their £38 million “outdated” star.

Jose Mourinho Questions Arsenal’s Prospects in the Champions League

After Real Madrid’s Champions League victory at Wembley Stadium, renowned football manager Jose Mourinho discussed Arsenal’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League the next season. Two-time Champions League winner Mourinho cited one important Arsenal player as the reason the Gunners are not likely to win the coveted trophy.

Mourinho started off by saying, “Look, Arsenal had a fantastic season and deserve all the credit for qualifying for the Champions League.” But to be really honest, if they don’t sell Aaron, I just don’t see them winning it the next year. And the wingback situation plays a big part in all of that.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, the left-back for Arsenal, was singled out by Mourinho as a possible weak point in the squad. “Zinny is unquestionably a talented player. However, I have serious concerns about his distribution and decision-making, particularly in high-stress European matches.

“You come up against the best attacks in the world in the Champions League,” the former manager of Chelsea and Manchester United went on to explain. You need a defensive full back who can control the tempo of the game and maintain composure, like Dani Carvajal of Real Madrid did against Dortmund this evening. Zinchenko hasn’t proven to me that he can perform at the highest level consistently, in my opinion.

Zinchenko’s recent poor passing accuracy and impetuous decision-making were highlighted by Mourinho as specific areas of weakness. “Those are the kinds of errors that are penalised against elite opposition. Additionally, those kinds of mistakes are unaffordable when attempting to win the Champions League.

“Without a doubt, Arsenal has assembled an exciting young team,” the Portuguese manager stated in closing. However, I don’t think they will contend for the Champions League crown unless they fix the left-back issue. They still have a ways to go before they can match the best in all of Europe.

It remains to be seen if Mourinho’s appraisal turns out to be correct. However, his remarks will undoubtedly offer Arsenal and their supporters a lot to ponder as they get ready to play in Europe’s premier club competition once more, where Mikel Arteta is aiming to add a few more players to his already outstanding roster.
