Rio Ferdinand tells Manchester United not to sign a forward for €60 million this summer: “I don’t see it as a fit.”
Rio Ferdinand doesn’t think Man United would be a good fit for Ivan Toney and hopes the club doesn’t make an offer for the Brentford striker this summer.

Toney’s current deal at Brentford ends in just one year, and the 28-year-old has made it clear that he wants to play for a “top club” one day.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been loosely associated with Toney in recent months, but it is believed that Brentford’s valuation of £60 million is deterring rival teams from making offers for the English national.

United, Ferdinand’s previous club, has also been acknowledged as having expressed interest in the past. Nevertheless, these reports have diminished to some extent after Joshua Zirkzee’s arrival at Old Trafford.

During a Q&A session on X, then known as Twitter, Ferdinand expressed his admiration for Toney but contended that the forward’s characteristics are not suitable for the Red Devils.

“In my opinion, I would not choose someone like Ivan Toney,” Ferdinand stated.

‘I consider him to be a skilled player, but I believe that his age and overall characteristics do not align with the club’s direction and the approach they have taken in this transfer window under the new ownership.’ I perceive it as incompatible.

I found it somewhat peculiar. He was a subject of widespread discussion, with speculations regarding potential transfers to Arsenal, Chelsea, or other clubs for a significant sum of £100m or £80m. Subsequently, without any warning, there are no potential buyers, leaving me perplexed as to the reason behind this.

However, I currently do not perceive it as a suitable match for Manchester United, considering their style of play.
