After sitting out most of the summer transfer window in 2024, Arsenal is primed for a spectacular finale. It appears that they are prepared to loan away their winger, Reiss Nelson, to Fulham, a rival team in London, for the duration of the current campaign.

Arsenal completes Reiss’ loan move to Fulham Nelson Nelson Associated with an Amazing Turn of Events
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Fulham and the Gunners are almost at an impasse about the potential of bringing in the English winger on loan for the balance of the 2024–2025 campaign. This comes after Nelson was heavily connected to a move to Ipswich Town; however, the deal has since fallen through as Arsenal was unable to come to an agreement for Nelson’s team. According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal has finally been concluded, and the paperwork was finished on time.

Nelson pushed for a transfer after realising he would not be a fixture in Mikel Arteta’s squad this season. Ornstein asserts that before the 2024 summer transfer window closed, the 24-year-old informed the Gunners that he wished to weigh his options about a possible transfer to another team. Because of the fierce competition among the Arsenal players, Nelson’s game time during the 2023–2024 season was restricted. For this reason, he is looking to join a different team that will provide him with more playing time in the future.

Why Did Arsenal Have To Sell Nelson?
On the last day of the summer transfer window in 2024, Arsenal proved to be fairly proactive. According to reports, they have reached a deal to loan the seasoned winger Raheem Sterling to Chelsea, their London rivals, for the 2024–2025 season. This could have caused them to expedite Nelson’s potential departure.

Despite making just one appearance for Arsenal this season, the 24-year-old did not appear to play a significant role in Arteta’s team. Nelson has made 90 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring eight goals and dishing out nine assists. Last year, former teammate Alex Iwobi praised Nelson for his “elite mindset.”
