I really wanted Mikel Arteta to sign him, but Arsenal couldn’t.” — Arsenal legend Thierry Henry wishes Arsenal had signed the £50 star who was previously supposedly open to Arsenal but is currently excelling for Premier League opponents.

Thierry Henry wishes Arsenal had signed the £50 million talent, who is currently excelling for Premier League opponents.

Arsenal had a successful summer in terms of transfers, making numerous interesting arrivals that have helped to enhance the team significantly.

The Gunners were a little late to get going, but they finished the transfer window on a high note.

Arsenal recruited Riccardo Calafiori in late July and added Mikel Merino at the end of August.

The Gunners then signed Neto on deadline day before bringing Raheem Sterling to N5 on loan just before the window closed.

Overall, it was a successful transfer window for Arsenal. However, there will always be discussions over which players a team should have moved for.

Thierry Henry has described a player the Gunners apparently targeted in January as the summer’s acquisition – for another Premier League team.

Thierry Henry wishes that Arsenal had signed Amadou Onana.
The player in question is Amadou Onana, who moved from Everton to Aston Villa for an estimated £50 million.

Back in January, it was rumored that Arsenal were interested in signing Onana, who was receptive to the idea, but nothing came of it.

The Belgian international was then recruited to B6 by Villa in June, and he has already made an impact at his new club.

Onana has scored twice in his first three Premier League appearances for Unai Emery’s team.

The Arsenal icon, speaking on talkSPORT (3/9/2024, 5:45pm), claims Onana was the signing of the summer and wishes Arsenal had made a bid.

“Best one, it is a lot of money, but I really like what they have done there,” Henry replied.

“They lost a tremendously important player in Douglas Luiz and brought in Onana. Oh! I wanted Arsenal to sign him.

“He’s a powerhouse, by the way. He scored two goals in his first three games as well. I think he’s been an excellent signing.”

Arsenal has strong midfield options for the present and future.
Onana would have been a good addition for Arsenal, but the issue is whether he would have adapted well to a squad position.

Nonetheless, the Gunners now boast a good midfield contingent. Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Merino, Martin Odegaard, and Kai Havertz are among Arteta’s available players.

Furthermore, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly appear to be on the verge of making the Gunners’ first-team roster.
