Ian Wright will support Spurs vs Man City

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has predicted something “unbelievably Spursy” for Tottenham’s match against Man City, which could give the Gunners an advantage in the race for the title.

After 37 of their 38 games, Arsenal leads Manchester City by one point at the moment. There are still two games for City to play, the first of which is their trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Conversely, Spurs remain in the running to qualify for the Champions League, particularly in light of Aston Villa’s loss to Liverpool on Monday night. Villa could finish in fourth place if they lose their last game against Crystal Palace and Spurs win six of their next two games.

Nonetheless, Arsenal supporters frequently refer to any bad things that happen to their North London rivals as “Spursy.” Wright, who played for the Gunners in 1998 when they won the league, appears to be quite excited about the possibility that Ange Postecoglou’s team will inadvertently assist Mikel Arteta while falling short of their own objective.

Wright told Premier League Productions, “It would be the Spursiest, the most unbelievably Spursy thing for them to beat Man City by accident.” “For me, the best possible outcome would be for Spurs to win and not qualify for the Champions League.”

“Hope is a must. Spurs stand to gain from it in some way. With so many important players out with injuries, it’s been up and down for them. Having lost Harry Kane at the beginning of the season, it is remarkable that they are in this position and can still make the playoffs under a new manager.

“They had a great start, faltered in the middle, and if they can advance to the Champions League, they could end on a fantastic high. Ange and the Spurs will be examining it as a professional since there is something there for them to consider. Though the players aren’t bothered by that, the fans are saying things like, “I’d hate for Arsenal to do it.”

Some Spurs supporters are hoping their team loses because Postecoglou hasn’t been able to convey the same attitude. “To me, I don’t understand it, I never will,” he replied. “I recognize rivalry. I understand the rivalry between Celtic and Rangers because I was a part of one of the biggest ones in the world a few years ago.

But I’ve never understood, and I never will, why someone would want to see their own team lose. That isn’t the purpose of sports. It’s not the part of the game that I adore. More than anything, I enjoy the competitive aspect of the game, where you challenge yourself to defeat an opponent and emerge victorious. Anything not included in that has no bearing on sports.

“I have nothing to do with it,” That’s not how I’ve lived my life, and I don’t think it’s my place to treat it that way, that other people enjoy other people’s suffering. Please don’t tell me that’s your world; if social media is any indication, the majority of Spurs fans—probably 99 percent of them—don’t [want the team to win]. It is my responsibility to make this football team successful. I

“I know 100 per cent of Spurs supporters want us to win, be successful and win trophies.”
