Inter Miami told how their squad is getting the best out of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez after Atlanta United draw

MLS too easy for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami; how can they fix the 'Beckham rule'?

Inter Miami were unable to claim all three points on the road against Atlanta United, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez making appearances from the bench.

Having played the full 90 on Saturday against the Philadelphia Union, Messi and Suarez were rested last night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with Inter Miami facing another away game in three days time against New York City FC.

where Inter Miami’s supporting cast took control of the game, with the Herons making eight changes to the starting XI to the side that played Philadelphia.

Yet Sacha Kljestan has highlighted how Inter Miami’s squad depth is getting the best out of Messi and Suarez.

Inter Miami’s depth allows Messi and Suarez to be rested

MLS too easy for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami; how can they fix the 'Beckham rule'?

Speaking on MLS Wrap-Up, the former USA international highlighted how Inter Miami’s squad depth is allowing the likes of Messi and Suarez to get the rest they need to fully recover between MLS games.

Both forwards are 37-years-old and at the tailend of their historic careers, and the more rest Messi and Suarez can get, the better Inter Miami will be heading into the MLS play-offs, where MLS Cup is on the line.

Kljestan said on Inter Miami’s squad depth: “The depth will take Miami a long way because you get rest for Messi and Suarez, tonight they only played 20 and 30 minutes between the two of them, so now they’re going to be fully rested to go again on Saturday where we will probably see Miami’s best line-up.

“All the best teams in the league, all the best coaches in the league will want to see when they put their depth pieces on the field does it still look like Inter Miami, and for the most part of this season, we can say yes. When they throw players in like Robert Taylor and Cremaschi, does the team still look the same? The quality is still there, yes.”

Messi and Suarez need to be protected at all cost this season

With a handful of regular season games to go before the play-offs, Messi and Suarez staying fit should, be viewed by Inter Miami as a top priority at this stage of the year.

The Supporters’ Shield is within Inter Miami’s grasp with the Herons the favorites for MLS Cup, a competition the Florida franchise need Messi and Suarez to be fit for if they’re to win.

And with the duo back and having their minutes carefully controlled, Inter Miami seem to be making all the right moves regarding Messi and Suarez, who will be key in this stretch of the season.
