After Arsenal defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the Champions League, Mikel Arteta saved the best praise for Kai Havertz, praising the forward’s “unbelievable” football acumen and work ethic.

Following their goalless draw with Atalanta in their group stage opening, the Gunners easily defeated Luis Enrique’s lackluster PSG team, with Havertz and interim captain Bukayo Saka finding the back of the net in a commanding first half performance.

In the 20th minute, Havertz gave the home team the lead with a bold header over an unlucky Gianluigi Donnarumma. Havertz went on to win man-of-the-match for his outstanding all-around forward play.

With the goal, the highly effective Germany international has scored in all six of Arsenal’s recent games at the Emirates across all competitions.

Shortly after the game, Arsenal head coach Arteta told Gabby Logan on Amazon Prime, “He’s been unbelievable.”

“His football acumen, spatial awareness, timing, and ability to unite people seamlessly integrate him into the team.”

“He has an amazing work ethic and poses a serious threat whenever he steps outside the box.” He is currently one of our key players.

Arsenal’s “very dominant” first-half performance against a dangerous PSG club with “a lot of personality” thrilled Arteta.

“Obviously, I’m really happy,” the Spaniard continued.

We faced a formidable foe—a team with a lot of personality that can be quite challenging to handle, particularly when the ball is out of your possession.

“But we were very dominant, especially in the first half; the second half was a different story.”

Saka’s 35th-minute free kick doubled the home team’s lead, eluding multiple opponents in the process. Arsenal has had incredible success from set pieces over the past 12 months.

Nicolas Jover, Arsenal’s master of set pieces, and his entire coaching team were duly acknowledged by Arteta for their contributions on the training field.

It’s an additional tool at our disposal. He went on, “Obviously, we have great takers and we currently have a very physical team that we can put out there.”

First and foremost, I want to thank the coaches for all of their hard work, and the players for believing in and realizing the potential of these game-changing moments.

“We become a much better team if we dominate every aspect of the game.”
