A new report has emerged following Atletico Madrid’s defeat at Arsenal.

A startling Julian Alvarez transfer update has emerged following Atletico Madrid’s shattering Champions League defeat to Arsenal.

Arsenal defeated Atletico 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday after the visitors lodged a complaint prior to kickoff.

The Gunners came alive in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals, with Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli, and Viktor Gyokeres (x2) all scoring.

Arsenal has won three Champions League games in a row and is off to a great start to the season.

Atletico Madrid has suffered their second Champions League defeat this season, and their latest setback could come at a high cost.

Alvarez, who played the entire game against Arsenal, has begun to question the club’s project.

According to Spanish site SPORT, Alvarez believes that if he cannot win trophies with Atletico, he should quit.

The crushing defeat to Arsenal has exacerbated this mood.

However, Alvarez might stay in La Liga as Barcelona monitors his condition ahead of a potential move next summer.

Barcelona could consider the Argentine forward, 25, as a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski, who turns 37 this year.

The Catalans will have to assess their options next summer, as there is a chance they will sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent transfer worth roughly £26 million.

Alvarez moved to Atletico from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 for £81.5 million.

The cost consisted of an initial £64.4 million plus an additional £17.1 million in prospective add-ons.

Since joining Atletico from Manchester City, he has scored 36 goals in 68 outings across all competitions.

Alvarez has yet to win a major championship with Atletico, who finished third in La Liga last season.

Diego Simeone’s squad finished 12 points behind league winners Barcelona.
