After Manchester City won the treble last season, Kyle Walker talked about the extent of their lavish parties and John Stones’ penchant for drinking.

John Stones, Kyle Walker’s teammate at Manchester City and England, has acknowledged that he enjoys drinking.

After seven years together on the club and national teams, Walker and Stones have shared their fair share of trophy celebrations fueled by alcohol. And it wasn’t any more the season before when City won the FA Cup, the Premier League, and the Champions League all in the span of three weeks.

Following their historic victory in June of last year, the treble winners had an absolute blast, with Jack Grealish being one of the many players joining in on the wild celebrations. Walker did, however, bring up the former Everton center back Stones when he talked about his wild trip to Abu Dhabi.

Walker stated during an interview with Rio Ferdinand on the FIVE podcast: “John adores it [a party]. However, he doesn’t drink throughout the season,” the source continued, going on to say that Stones prefers to drink straight from the bottle and doesn’t use mixers.

“He had a brief try when we traveled to Abu Dhabi. But it’s bottles when he leaves. He’ll sip that straight without any mixers—just a bottle of tequila and a bottle of Jaeger. He just says, “Give me the bottle,” and down it goes.”

Walker went on to discuss how raucous the drinking sessions become after City wins a championship. Walker joined the Etihad from Tottenham in 2017, and during his successful tenure at the club so far, Pep Guardiola’s team has won 14 major trophies, averaging more than two each season since Walker’s arrival. “I adore it,” Walker continued. “When you’re having fun with the guys, how high is the high? We extend our nights out to likely three days.”

Following their treble success in the Champions League last year, City spent four days drinking and partying in Istanbul, Manchester, and Ibiza. Grealish became the face of the celebrations during that time and was frequently photographed holding drinks.

Grealish said at the time to talkSPORT, when asked if he was bothered by the criticism of the extravagant celebrations: “Not really.” I had accomplished something rare in one’s lifetime. When was it last completed? It hasn’t been done in a very long time; I’m not sure when Man United did it.

Why not rejoice in that manner then? I had everyone with me. I was going out with my friends, not by myself. I was with the entire group. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were fun days for us. The weekend was the best of my life. I was overcome with emotion after winning the Champions League.

“I think I was experiencing the highest emotional high of my life. Though I was unaware, I knew I wouldn’t be playing on Friday, according to the [England] manager.”
