Leny Yoro clarifies the role of the Manchester United legend in the £52 million transfer.

The summer transfer was assisted by the legendary Rio Ferdinand of Manchester United, according to the French star.
The second acquisition under INEOS’ control was a former Lille player.
Ferdinand, a former defender, urged Yoro to transfer to United.

Yoro was taken surprised by the message and responded, “That is absurd.” Rio was one of the most exceptional defenders in the world when I was a child.

“I think everyone watched United when he was young and, for me, it was a dream to play for this club.”

Ferdinand’s 12 years at United were marked by success, as he won the Premier League six times and the Champions League in 2008, solidifying his status as one of the club’s finest defenders.

United is seeking to regain their position at the summit of English football, and Yoro will aspire to emulate his success. Last season, the Red Devils achieved their lowest-ever Premier League finish by finishing eighth under Erik ten Hag, and they have not won a league title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager in 2013.

The Dutchman, despite the disappointment, has received the support of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS following the ratification of their 27.7% stakeholding. He has signed a contract extension in an effort to replicate the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May.
